Welcome to the History Matters website.
My name is Kevin Boardman. I am a retired teacher of 40 years’ experience. Born in Norfolk… moved to Suffolk as part of missionary work for our southern neighbours! I am a keen sportsman, a cricket coach and a lifelong learner.
I started my career as a PE teacher… got old, fat and slow – gravitated to the pastoral side as a Head of Year. A deputy/assistant head by 31 – a post I maintained for over 20 years.

Now ‘retired’ I enjoy visiting diverse local groups that are looking for a guest speaker. I offer talks on a wide range of subjects, just some of these include:
The Oregon Trail
The Great Plague of 1665
The Slave Trade & Civil Rights

I make no formal charge for the talks that I offer. Instead, I ask you to make a donation to Prostate Cancer UK.
Donations by cheque and sent in by me via post, along with your email address. Prostate Cancer UK should then send you an email to confirm receipt and thank you for the donation.
Donations by cash are sent in electronically by me. I am investigating ways for them send their thanks to the donators.
Please note: From November 2025 onwards, I will only be available for evening events between early April and the end of September. I will, however, remain available for all daytime talks throughout the year.
A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.
